Linux@lemmy.ml•According to Pornhub data (yes seriously!) Linux market share in 2024 increased more than 40% relative to 5.1% of all users.English
1·6 months agoBased on the drop in Safari usage on mobile and desktop, and the increase in Firefox and Opera usage. I’m sort of assuming they swapped over to use the builtin VPN in opera or an extension in Firefox to bypass the blocks.

Games@sh.itjust.works•"Y'all are pathetic": Dune: Awakening players are using sandworms to kill their rivals in PvE-only areas, proving once more that nowhere on Arrakis is safeEnglish
18·6 months agoYeah, but if you want a true PvE experience, look elsewhere. As it’s impossible to reach end-game without risk of being killed by another player.
Even on private servers, the later resources are only in pvp areas that are shared with other private servers.
Fun fact: Bees actually make round holes, the hexagon shape forms as the wax dries.

Oh, never mind, the author of the article seems to have been working there for about a month. I’m guessing they just graduated and started reading political news for the first time last month. That’s the only explanation for this article, other than the author being a massive liar or reeeeaaally dumb.
It’s why the trope of an enemy that never stops/is endless is so terrifying, and thus common in media.
People often want, and try, to do that, but then fall back into something closer to their real self.
It’s very common in video game RPGs that track moral choices. For example Mass Effect, where a lot of people try to make a Renegade character and take the evil choices. But then end up choosing many of the nicer options as they keep playing. Or have to keep reminding themselves that they’re intentionally playing differently.

Raltoid@lemmy.worldtoUnited States | News & Politics@midwest.social•State biologists warned of wildlife conflicts at proposed shooting complex site. Wyoming approved the location anyway.English
13·7 months agoWildlife are just pests to these people,
Rabbits are literally, by definition, pests. Since they cause millions in damages to farms every year.
especially : a plant or animal detrimental to humans or human concerns (such as agriculture or livestock production)
https://www.merriam-webster.com/dictionary/pest
If left unchecked, they breed into the thousands in a few years and eat the same amount as hundreds of sheep, deer, etc. they destroy their own local enviroment by killing plants. Reducing biodiversity, restricting food sources for other wild animals, etc.

For further clarification:
The Antarctic Peninsula(the long bit sticking out) is the furtest part away from the south pole in the antarctic and is thus the northernmost part, and is generally considered to be the “north” when using cardinal directions there. The Weddell Sea is off the coast of the peninsula.

0·7 months agoYeah it’s an early version and I have no doubt that you guys will make it a lot neater, and it seems like a nice project. I just think it breaks several basic rules of privacy and security oriented programming, which is why I don’t think it’s a good fit for this community just yet.

That’s a no from me.

Indeed, although this type of thing was more common with older wifi generations, so I’m not surprised kids these days wont know.
For example: We cut the top off an old beer can, poked a hole and stuck it onto the antenna to have stable download speeds across a courtyard.
