4·14 days agoI had to look up the exact exchange, because this line always makes me laugh too. Her tone, lol
KORBY: You think I could love a machine?
CHAPEL: Did you?

9·14 days agoStart where it all began! The original is a fun watch.

If it elicits a groan, it’s peak dad humor.

TenForward: Where Every Vulcan Knows Your Name@lemmy.world•This is just Picard's warmup
8·17 days agoI don’t see why it wouldn’t!
Although it would be so old to them that it would be like us making a swordfighting game about Macbeth or something.

16·5 months agoThere are a lot of fakes claiming to be from that screen test, unfortunately.
But we do see him in a wig in “I, Claudius” from the 70s.

61·5 months agoIs it an actual photoshop then? This isn’t mine, and I assumed whoever did the original edit used some sort of faceswap or AI app to do it because it looked so smooth.
I can read this as either: AI allows anyone to code their own stuff.
Or
AI is hogging all the million dollar ideas.

I even questioned myself before submitting that title, did a quick google, and figured either that was the helm or both stations up front are collectively referred to as the helm.
The results that misled me…

…now I have to stealthily edit the title.

I think it does a good job of showing the reality of how clunky integration of different groups can be, and how even in a future where humans have “solved” racism amongst themselves, it’s not a lesson that can be buried with the past yet.
The frustrations that the crew has with Spock’s behaviors that are baffling to them, and vis versa, how Spock feels (and frequently verbalizes) about what he thinks are human failings, are very real reflections of how different groups learn to understand each other better. The friction of their interactions is the point, as well as showing that they are incredibly loyal to each other and care about each other’s wellbeing at the end of the day.
This is the heart of Star Trek, in my opinion - seeing them actively grow together despite their occasional rude outbursts and misunderstandings.
