I’m never voting republican, but after the bernie bullshit to ram clinton in i’m under no illusion that the democrat party is for the people by any stretch. In another timeline where he was elected instead of trump we might have had some amazing outcomes from the pandemic. A real populist that seems to be anything but the corrupt status quo might have put politics on a more enlighened, less sensational smoke and mirrors path.

The problem really is that the lenders of X’s debt probably have a significant influence and have a vested interest in recouping their money.

Monthly active users would be a better statistic to track imo. That gives you a real idea as to how big the community is.

Anecdotally, content wise does seem better than a few months ago. Unfortunately lots of it seems to be highly polarizing and hateful stuff when you look at all communities. Othering seems to be as strong as ever, if not stronger. Probably because hate groups can just setup their own instances or take over parts of existing ones without much blowback like they would get on other sites.

The gain is really next to nothing in the 2 months shown in this graph. It goes from ~1,456,000 to 1,468,000… which is a 00.8% increase, less than 1%.

BFD, it’s not like they banned his account, just one gimped extension that doesn’t do the whole ad blocking experience and even then only because he didn’t do anything to try and reverse it. Then after it’s restored he throws his tantrum and removes it.

With all the extensions out there false positive detections of malicious apps are going to happen. Nobody has unlimited resources to hire boatloads of devs to review every single line of code of every extension for every update done. That’s an insane expectation.

People en masse just can’t handle the nuance of language. They need a dumb word for everything that is remotely similar.

They treat people like cattle because they are protecting the airplanes and the airline’s liability, not the people onboard or in line to board.

I’ve had games not record time because I was in offline mode on vacation and I pre-downloaded it, or I just played in offline mode or directly from a game’s executable without steam’s crap embedded.

In the past it’s been trivial to set achievement unlocks and time played with 3rd party tools too.

I don’t see any kind of discounts mentioned either. I almost never buy from steam directly, usually reputable 3rd party sites like Fanatical, GamersGate, WinGameStore etc that I find through isthereanydeal. It’ll show as being on my account but nobody knows what I paid for it and I almost never pay MSRP.

Then there’s the countless bundle keys I used to get that I definitely never played and will never play because I wanted 2-3 games in a bundle of 10-20 that was cheaper than one of the games alone.

It wouldn’t shock me at all if there was 10 billion worth of unplayed games though. I have friends that buy all the hot releases and then barely touch them because a couple hundred bucks a month is not significant to their monthly budget.

If the law says you can transfer licenses posthumously to someone, businesses are compelled to do so. No private agreement is above the law.

If the business granting the license doesn’t consent and they pull it they are then able to be sued for violating a law allowing posthumous transfer of license.
