21·24 days ago*except for the death penalty. We should absolutely be dissolving companies with a track record of illegal activity or ones that effectively kill people for profit.
I think it’ll be fine. I use bitwig in kde neon, and it works fine. I can’t imagine Ubuntu studio is going to be that crazy different.
Whatever distro they go with, be sure that it has pipewire out of the box rather than pulseaudio. Pulse is garbage and unusable for anything requiring low latency. Also make sure they know that they need to become incredibly familiar with their DAWs built in tools, since native VST compatibility with Linux is not very common.

Technology@beehaw.org•Americans are holding onto devices longer than ever and it's costing the economy
58·1 month agoOh no, we’re being so selfish. Why not buy a 10% performance upgrade every two years for $1000 while wages stagnate? Oh, and carriers don’t subsidize the cost at all anymore. They call it “free” then lock you into their most expensive plan so you spend thousands more on the plan than if you could have afforded to just buy the phone outright.
Fuck this out of touch reporting.

Linux@lemmy.world•Ok, how do you make a good linux media center pc?English
4·1 month agoSeconding this. I got the cheapest piece of shit 2.4ghz media controller thing from five below and it works flawlessly on both Ubuntu and Debian. Bluetooth might be a pita, but USB based stuff tends to work just fine as long as it doesn’t need some weird proprietary software to enable functionality.

11·2 months agoCan we get a double check on the origin being foreign? I distinctly remember a time not too long ago where a group of sketchy douchebags led by Elon Musk were actively breaching every government system with reckless abandon.

11·2 months agoKnowing Nvidia, it’s probably supposed to display some sort of user confirmation prompt when run in interactive mode, but they forgot to disable it when doing a silent install.

8·2 months agoTough call. If it’s still flashing, you’re not frozen. But entire fresh OS installs barely take 15 min, so it’s hard to imagine that there isn’t something hung somewhere. I think you’re just going to have to decide if you’re willing to wait longer, I don’t think it’s ever really safe to hard reset mid os upgrade, but you’re likely going to have to.
