  • 3 minutes test.

    Pro:

    • Seems to work. I can hear sound and it seems to be where I left off.
    • Downloading offline book seem to work which is a huge plus compared to the official app although I wish someone was considerate with space and built the option to store only X hours. I really only need to store enough for my next commute.
    • Looks clean, but to be honest that’s not a very important factor since I mostly only use the app to press play.

    Cons:

    • Library doesnt distinguish already read books and new books.
    • Can’t group books by author and series.
    • I don’t like the scroll down on the playing screen that switch to a chapter screen but scrolling up doesn’t do the opposite. Seems like poor UX. 1) scrolling down is not a usual action to change screen. 2) Opposite action should have opposite result.

    Edit: ah ok got it. It does work but not with the same sensitivity, you can scroll down but you need to flick up, most likely because you got screwed by the list of chapters which is most likely also scrollable (my list isn’t long enough to require scroll so I can’t test that). Anyway, I stand by my previous note: “opposite actions” and flick up is not the opposite of scroll down.

    Promising beginning though.


  • Yup, for a solo project that you don’t want to share I would even argue that a forge is close to pointless.

    Any ssh remote will work as a backup, you can run the ci/cd task on your own computer just fine (very likely faster even), you obviously don’t need to send PR and request code review to yourself and if a TODO.md isn’t enough to keep track of tasks there’s a billions lightweight task/note tracker.

    I use github because I’m a lazy and it works fine as a backup but I don’t need 99% of the features for my pet projects.



  • I doubt you need more than a notepad app. It’s what I used the last two times I had to move between countries and it was more than enough for me and customs. I simply wrote down important stuff as I put them in numbered boxes.

    Spreadsheet are overkill, a note app is easy to access on your phone at all time and can be easily shared with someone.

    Here’s a sample of what I ended up with:

    • 15 - camera stands / shoemaking tools / notepads / trophies / guitar cable / weaved basket X2 / cooler bag / curtain rings X 3 /

    • 25 - Nespresso coffee machine, Italian coffee maker, plates & dishes, kitchen utensils.
    • 26 - casserole, dishes, plates, kitchen stuff
    • 27 - casserole, cups
    • 28 - wedding dress, photos, various cat stuff, photo bag




  • I remember very well bioware games and others in past decades got the same kind of reaction because « omg gay romance, that kind of agenda shouldn’t be pushed in a video game, think of the children ».

    So now the new social “battle” is trans right and the game has a gender questioning character (From a review, I haven’t played) that seems to take at most a whole 5 minutes over the course of the whole game. Why not.

    Now the game has been designed to cater to 10 year old and not the older crowd who played the original so it doesn’t have the depth you’d want and the dialog is on the nose. Well, too bad. Just play something else.




  • I mean for a hobby project that no one cares about sure. Otherwise the whole CI/CD process was invented exactly to avoid having devs push untested and untrackable crap on production servers. So once there are more than two people in a team and paying customers with access to a lawyer that’s going to be a hard pass.

    Anyway the main reason your CI/CD are slow is that you’re using $5 workers with 1Gb ram. There’s a reason the build is faster on your 12 core/64Gb laptop, the issue is usually not the process, the issue is being cheap on the infrastructure. The only good thing about GitHub CI workers is that they are cheap but performance wise they are garbage.


  • Honestly it wasn’t bad but it wasn’t great. For the period in which it was released it was graphically meh, the combat was shit, the exploration was meh minus with copy pasta generic boring cave, enemies and boring ass loot, the NPC were dumb as rocks, the questing was about being the dog in a game of fetch, the RPGing was on rail, the storyline was… Wait there was storyline? Oh yeah, you’re the one, go kill a dragon for some reason. Eh, sure whatev’ and the writing was… Well… Nothing to write about. :D

    And of course, if was full of bugs and glitches and unfinishable quest that borks your save as one can expect from Bethesda.
