  • Heard this two generations straight already.

Maybe PCs. IF Microsoft brings out a cheap and form factor PC instead of a Xbox whatever they call it. And that’d be a good thing. Besides, a Xbox Series X and a PC is about the same thing except less configuration on the console, and that’s fine… Microsoft still makes games, they just bring it to PC as well as their console. We should applaud that.

But no, Consoles and PCs will be in gaming as long as people buy millions of them, and the good news is they don’t buy millions, they buy HUNDREDS of millions.

And Gen Z continue to buy them too. Because GenZ is 22-38. I hate the phrase but I feel like “OK Boomer” is actually appropriate here.

And yet social distancing was “obvious” because scientists said it u til they admitted they pretty much just made that distance up.

That’s why there’s an Appeal from Authority fallacy… But you just keep on trusting what ever they say with out questioning it.

  • “I’ve done it too many times to repeat it again” Really?

Isn’t that kind of beneath you? That’s the type of shit someone would say on a playground.

Besides which the full complaint doesn’t appear to be available anywhere, but what has been shown has not said what you’re claiming.

However other people might have more knowledge about this situation than you seem to, besides which other pieces that have been revealed since the original complaint have shown it’s not just about the ability to circumvention technology. So you know… maybe read more, or stop acting like you have all the answers when you don’t?

On the other hand consider if it was exactly what you say it is, why isn’t Cemu and Ryujinx getting their own version of the note… hint: it’s not just about the circumvention…

  • Honestly… they don’t. I think Microsoft will eventually go to a PC pre-built with a OS on it. “But isn’t that a Console?” I mean I had an alpha, On my alpha I had a versions of windows that immediately booted into the Alpha program for ease of use. I stopped the alpha program and my wife uses it as a work computer (a weak one so she can pull up documents).

I don’t see a future where Microsoft makes a different OS than Windows, makes a hardware setup that isn’t off the shelve parts. MAYBE a specialized motherboard with a chip set. But ultimately, I think IF they make a “Console” it’s going to be a Windows machine with set specs that don’t change, and an OS that is just for gaming, maybe with some way to dockerize the software so you always get the same experience every time you run it.

Sony and Nintendo will keep making Consoles, for sure, but Microsoft has no benefit in making a console. And before someone says what I described is a console, Xbox can’t play PC games, what I’m describing is a windows machine playing windows software. When you make Xbox software currently you make software that ONLY can run on an Xbox… but why? You already are making a Windows build so you can ship a Windows version, so why not only make the windows version and have your console just be a windows machine in an OS that will giver players a consistent experience.

  • Not bad, Devolver somehow makes me slightly interested in everything they put out. Admittedly I don’t have time for that many new games, but who ever is doing marketing for Devolver has consistently kicked ass. The biggest loss from E3 (other than a way for the press to see the games that normally they’d miss out on all in one place) is Devolver’s Press Conferences, they were always something to look forward to when I would just skip most of them.

Clever way to show off their line up, I’m a bit curious if these games actually slipped or if they were always intended to be 2024 games, and the presented as 2023 delayed.

  • Then we see the game and it’s a completely white guy. “What? White guys can come from Africa too”. /s

When I was working in games we had VERY long discussions about using a black main character, and ended up going with another White main character, simply because women and black men do not sell as well as white men. And before you quote a long list of examples that prove that wrong, first realize there’s hundreds of games that fail with both. And many of the success are stuff like Metroid (They hide her face for the entire first game, rarely show her, and is by Nintendo who could make a game about Peaches PMS cycle and it still sells… and did) or Sony (Who has enough money and clout to advertise the fuck out of something like Horizon), or overly sexualized character (Tomb raider’s first titties… sorry Titles)

It’s still likely a wrong assumption but there’s a lot of proof that the race of the main character DOES matter.

  • There’s three big problems with this.

    A. You’re now allowing people to hop, and even name change. Let’s say they’ll allow that. But I think both of those are things that will have to be agreed upon if it’s done at all.

    B. You’re missing the password. Every instance should have a unique salt, passwords should NEVER be reversible, and never be stored insecurely (AKA before salting the hash for instance). I use a different password for every site, but I’ve had sites tell me “Your password is X” … holy shit that’s a HUGE security flaw for multiple reasons.

So if I’m migrating and don’t need to set a new password, that’d be questionable.

    C. This can be done unscrupulously. If I get control of someone’s account, I can migrate it and essentially steal all their accounts and posts. For 99 percent of us who cares, but let’s say there’s a post from “Justin Bieber” and I get his account, migrate it, use a new password, and now make his posts say “I don’t suck cocks”…

It’s probably more important when it’s a big game studio who posts update and such to Lemmy somewhere but the point is accounts will have a huge value eventually, letting you migrate it with a click might be dangerous.

  • I recently started 9… and it’s… Yeah It deserved most of the somewhat negative reviews, but it’s still a DW game. I honestly think they should have called it something like Empires. As an open world game it’s interesting and unique but it is a little too open for “DW”. IT feels like a half step in the wrong direction but if they continued on and made “Dynasty Warriors 10 World” with that system and improved it, it could be something pretty unique. Just not as the main line series.

If you haven’t read Romance of the Three Kingdoms you’re in for a treat, I really enjoyed those books quite a bit, especially after being such a fan of the series. Getting more of the back story is great, and the characters are way more interesting.
