my wife refers to ds9 as a “Space Mall Soap Opera”… and I can’t argue with that description.
Back when it was airing, my dad would refer to it as “As The Station Turns”
lol when I first started watching DS9 I just could not get past the idea that Sisko was commanding an interstellar truck stop/motel.
Please, the preferred terminology is “space opera”.
