I know that many people are concerned about “Threads” privacy policy and are all screaming “WE WILL BLOCK THREADS”. I honestly can’t see how it’s going to gather any personal information since Lemmy, mastodon etc. doesn’t collect any information at all. Like, how can you gather information about user, if he doesn’t have any information about himself. Sure, Threads will collect info about its users, that’s obvious, but I think it’s a bad idea to just block it from the start
So basically just as I said, they can’t get any info on Fedi users. Thanks Ruud!
My main concern isn’t even about privacy, but being exposed to Meta “curated” content. They’ll definitely use the platform to misinform and manipulate public opinion.

Having an aversion towards corporations is very much justified at this point.
I know their intentions are not good, I do not agree with them at all and I don’t want them or their traffic anywhere near things I use.
Fuck them and I wish someone bombs their headquarters.
I’m sure gonna get downvotes for this
This place will 100% self implode in a few weeks without a commercial entity or a non profit stepping up.
There needs to be a monthly fee to pay for mods and hosting. But it won’t happen because of the posts you mention. Privacy zealots will kill this place.
The bitching you reference is idiots without a plan bitching because they can.
