Um Ackshually, it’s the first Monday in September over here. This year that just happens to be Sep 1.
It really screwed up the recognition of International Bacon Day, which is celebrated on the Saturday before Labor Day in the US but the first Saturday in September in other jurisdictions. But that’s OK, because we get two excuses to eat Bacon this year.
Stop your imperialist bullshit the world doesn’t revolve around America. We have Labour day the first Monday of September it is not always September 1st.
It was also selected because it’s a better break. In the US you usually get easter off in April and memorial day off in late May, so there’s already a decent amount of spring holidays.
Whereas there’s nothing between 4th of July and Thanksgiving in late november, so labor day is a good break to split up that long stretch.
