Worf had the best explanation of the forehead situation all the way back in DS9. “We do not speak of it with outsiders.”

  • I’m keen to see a better backstory for the Gorn and TOS Arena.

I just can’t get behind all the outrage at Goldsman in the comments below that interview.

    What do folks here think?

It’s one of the reasons I avoided Trek forums for years. Thankfully the Trek sub (now here) is a much calmer place and it turns out the more militant Trekkies are a very vocal minority.

      From the interview:

“Because for me, storytelling beats canon. And that may not be popular, but it’s the truth.”

I’m not “outraged” at this, but this is a red flag and I feel like some things about the first two episodes of this season justify feeling that way. Have you all learned nothing from the dumpster fire that is J. J. Abrams?

“And that may not be popular, but it’s the truth”

Dude, that’s not some kind of “objective truth” that’s you telling me you don’t want to do your homework and you resent the fans expecting you to…

  • The only Gorn cannon I recognize is the rudimentary implement constructed by Captain Kirk in Arena.

But in all seriousness, I understand being precious about canon and having everything fit together, but making tweaks and changes here and there in the service of storytelling isn’t the end of the world. Especially with a franchise spanning 50+ years and several different television series.
