Why does only “Leonardo” get the first name
That’s the full name he had at birth.
He was an illegitimate child, his father, Ser Piero, acknowledged him later so he became Leonardo di ser Piero“da Vinci” meaning “from Vinci” came later.
So Leonardo is accurate, calling him da Vinci is not
