Isn’t gramps a desktop app? It would make more sense to use Webtrees when using a VPS, which can be accessed over the web with login.

Selfhosted@lemmy.world•Questions on backing up to S3 Glacier Deep Archive.English
2·2 years agoTake a look at the calculations here https://www.arqbackup.com/aws-glacier-pricing.html
It explains it a bit better. You have to factor in how many requests you need too. So both file sizes and amount of files.
Maybe Volumio can work? It’s some time since I last tried it.

Selfhosted@lemmy.world•How do you manage your music library?English
7·2 years agoThis is a copy of an older comment of mine:
Everything is tagged and organized using Picard. I use a modified version of https://community.metabrainz.org/t/repository-for-neat-file-name-string-patterns-and-tagger-script-snippets/2786/156.
I’ve been meaning to write a guide for how it works. My current WIP script can be found here: https://gitea.baerentsen.space/FrederikBaerentsen/DataHoarder_scripts/src/branch/master/Picard.txt
My files is setup like:
~/Music/A/Artist/(YYYY) Title [Type - Format] [MusicBrainz ID]/[side] Title [length][Bandwidth].exteg:
/Music/Q/Queen/(1973) Queen [12 Inch Vinyl - FLAC] [1783da6a-9315-3602-a488-1738eb733a0f] /A1. Keep Yourself Alive [3m48s][320+ 48000KHz VBR 2ch].flac /B1. Liar [6m26s][320+ 48000KHz VBR 2ch].flac /Music/B/Bruce Springsteen/(2019) Western Stars [CD - FLAC] [a50ffce7-0532-41a7-b85b-7d02f8c7af00] /01. Hitch Hikin' [3m38s][320+ 96000KHz VBR 2ch].flac /02. The Wayfarer [4m18s][320+ 96000KHz VBR 2ch].flacif the album isn’t a studio album, theres an extra folder. eg:
/Music/B/Bruce Springsteen/Compilation/(1996) The Lost Masters I_ Alone in Colts Neck (The Complete Nebraska Session) [CD - FLAC] [8531e427-495a-443a-8fc3-0dd2ef459c93] /01. Nebraska [4m27s][320+ 44100KHz VBR 2ch].flac /Music/P/Phil Collins/Singles/(1981) In the Air Tonight [7 Inch Vinyl - FLAC] [e805dd53-9257-4c78-8bff-a95f0cdd767e] /A. In the Air Tonight [5m29s][320+ 96000KHz VBR 2ch].flacI have special categories for:
Compilations Cover Tribute Singles Live EPIf an album contains multiple disks, there’s an extra folder. Eg:
/Music/M/Michael Jackson/Compilation/(2004) The Ultimate Collection [CD - FLAC] [2d37b204-ed26-3795-9710-1514f0fd931a] /Disc 1 /01. I Want You Back [3m00s][320+ 44100KHz VBR 2ch].flacFor soundtracks it’s:
~/Music/Soundtrack/T/(YYYY) Title [Type - Format] [MusicBrainz ID]/[side] Title [length][Bandwidth].exteg.
/Music/Soundtrack/L/(2001) The Lord of the Rings_ The Fellowship of the Ring - The Complete Recordings [Digital Media - FLAC] [cad73ae7-5966-4de1-bad4-4a603891fd27] /Disk 1/01. Prologue_ One Ring To Rule Them All [7m15s][320+ 48000KHz VBR 2ch].flacBeen using this for 3+ years and it’s solid.
I’ll try and make a better write up at some point and share my script.
This setup also works flawlessly with Plex + Prism. I run Picard in a docker container and access it over web, so it can run on my headless Debian server.
I’ve had the exact same spectrum setup in Orlando and I just gave up connecting to local services. Had a VPS for my external stuff and things I wanted to reach away from home and then used a couple of local services when at home.
You can use the command ‘wakeonlan x’ where x is your MAC address of the pc you are trying to wake.
I use WireGuard on a pi and then use wakeonlan from my phone to start my pc.

Games@sh.itjust.works•Prince of Persia The Lost Crown | Nintendo Direct 9.14.2023English
2·3 years agoHaving played the old Price of Persia, this just looks like a random platformer and not really a prince of Persia game. Kinda disappointed. Will check it out when it goes on sale
Basically tried them all and I’ve been using Avelon pretty exclusively for the past couple of weeks.

Selfhosted@lemmy.world•What specs to look for in an Optiplex SFF/MFF pc?English
5·3 years agoBut then you also spend much more than $100 😂 I already have a NAS with a a 7th gen i7, 16gb ram, 32TB hdh, and a 1070 for decoding but it uses too much power to stay on all the time. I only turn it on to watch plex and then power it down to save electricity.

Selfhosted@lemmy.world•What specs to look for in an Optiplex SFF/MFF pc?English
1·3 years agoI’ve looked at that but idk if 650kr for 8gb ram version is worth it if the CPU is ‘only’ a 6100.
I’ve had a DBA Agent going for some weeks but most things are 6th gen or lower or overpriced 8th gen.

Selfhosted@lemmy.world•owntracks recorder with mosquitto docker containers and android client over mtlsEnglish
1·3 years agoI actually gave up on mosquitto and mqtt for owntracks. Been running it with https (behind traefik) for about 4 years now and it’s been solid. Not sure why you want to switch to mosquitto.

Selfhosted@lemmy.world•is nextcloud still the best to host a small amount of files that need to be accessible anywhere and backed up? and carddav caldavEnglish
41·3 years agoI personally find NextCloud too heavy. I use Seafile on a Pi3B+ and it’s been rock solid for 5+ years.
Looks like https://github.com/zedeus/nitter/issues/919#issuecomment-1615136091 is the reason. Smells like bullshit. There’s no way this is correct.
Kinda sucks. Been using it to check a few tweets here and there without an account.

Lots of people saying mealie or tandoor, so I’ll say Grocy. I don’t use it for every single food item but mainly for spices and frozen items and the recipe functionality is pretty good.
Sucks that it isn’t available in the ios app though.
