  • Both guanfacine and clonidine did nothing but cause a rapid heart rate, slightly lower blood pressure (I already take other medications for my BP so that’s covered) and make me have to pee six or more times every night. It wasn’t for me - I get along much better with my Adderall XR with smaller dose of Adderall XR (we have no Adderall IR in Canada and doctors here are not keen to prescribe IR dextroamphetamine) in the afternoon.

  • I lived in Australia for years. There are many publicallu publicly available programs and access to a psychiatrist is covered by Medicare. Hospitals also will provide crisis support and this is covered by bulk billing.

You will have to put in the work and get medicated. The fact that you’re not taking any medication is already a red flag. You need to commit to treatment and follow the system. No country is going to give you free money and housing without the obligation to work for AuADHD not even Sweden or Denmark.

  • We don’t even have instant release Adderall in Canada only Adderall XR. The only instant release amphetamine we have is dextroamphetamine instant release and almost no doctors or psychiatrist prescribed it anynore. Everyone gets Vyvanse or Concerta or other long acting meds.

Also no Canadian doctor will prescribe to an American who is just visiting. Getting ADHD meds in Canada generally requires a psychiatrist visit and we have long wait times or a family doctor that knows your history well enough to do a trial run on meds. Walk in clinics won’t prescribe ADHD meds

Again this is a moot point since no doctor in Canada will prescribe these meds to someone who doesn’t live here
