Your opinions will never be removed from the community. Even if you say you don’t like a particular series, character, writer or producer.

Well, I have to give the OP credit for outrageous audacity.

Coming to the main community on the dedicated Star Trek instance to argue that users should subscribe elsewhere is inherently a criticism. It says a lot about the tolerance of the mods and admins here that it’s been left to stand.

I myself appreciate a well moderated community because I believe it enables more discussion not less.

Your opinions will never be removed from the community.

So, if someone was to make the claim that in the episode “Patterns of Force”, John Gill was objectively right to introduce the planet Ekos to the fascist thought modelled on Nazi Germany because National Socialism is, as he theorized, the most efficient form of government, and the fact that the Zeons ended up persecuted and were to be victims of genocide is not only acceptable, but right and good considering who they were allegory for, that would be a welcome opinion in your community?

There’s always one that has to take things to the extreme in a pathetic attempt try and prove a point. 99% of people wouldn’t dream of posting the kind of stuff you just did to in an attempt to be what you obviously consider clever.

It should also not go unnoticed that this kind of pro-Nazi post was made here and not in my community. Please stay here.

A welcome opinion? All opinions are welcome. I personally don’t agree with what you said but I don’t have to. That’s the beauty of an opinion. It’s not fact, it’s an opinion. And we all know what they say about opinions.

            That’s pretty wack.

I will say right here and now, without hesitation or equivocation, anyone engaging in bigotry in this community will have their posts comments/removed, and they will very likely be banned.

No one is going to be banned for their opinion that any particular iteration of Star Trek, new or old, isn’t very good though. That would be silly.

I’d like to believe you but the modlog doesn’t support your claim. Posts have been removed today for no other reason than they are criticising aspects of an episode or show. That’s the beauty of Lemmy. Mods actions are public record unlike Reddit.

I didn’t say posts wouldn’t be removed, I said no one was going to be banned.

There are still community guidelines which need to be met, including a requirement that criticism be constructive. It’s literally Rule #1 on the sidebar. Just dashing off some spicy take and not elaborating further doesn’t clear that low bar, but for people for whom that’s the sort of communication that they’re looking for, it sounds as though your community would be right up their alley.

Be Constructive is too subjective to be the number one rule.

Discovery is terrible because it is too far removed from Gene’s vision.

To me that’s a valid point and constructive because it gives a reason I think it’s terrible. But to you it might not be however that doesn’t mean it should be removed. That’s what the up and down votes are for. Let the community decide instead of censoring people.

It isn’t very Starfleet of you.

What makes it more free and open? Banning those who disagree? You got any sources??? This place seems pretty normal.

Just to test your theory: TOS is mind numbingly boring.

Try criticising Discovery or Picard seasons 1 & 2.

      Like this.

Discovery is closer to woke propaganda than it is Star Trek.

All right, the OP has made their sales pitch, and further discussion is unlikely to be productive.

Just a reminder: going to other spaces on the internet in order to manipulate votes or otherwise cause trouble is uncool, and we will take action against anyone we catch doing it. I’m proud to say that this does not appear to have happened in this case, so thank you all for that.

A further reminder that posts of this nature are considered off-topic for c/startrek - Fediverse posts belong on c/quarks.
