The reason I think Vader might return is that when the Inquisitors confirm they’ve found Maul in Rebels they call up Vader quickly. They’re clearly chasing him and know Vader wants to find him.
I expect Maul will cross paths with the Inquisitors again, although I bet Maul gets the upper hand. We know the Eleventh Brother (white mask guy) is eventually defeated by Ahsoka in “Tales of the Jedi”, so he’s “safe”. But First Brother/Marrok has a more complicated story. We know he “survives” until the the first season of “Ahsoka”, but when he dies it’s some night sister magic death. So I’m guessing Marrok will hunt Maul, but not tell Vader and try to defeat Maul himself.
Maybe Marrok will side with Maul? Maybe Vader will view Marrok not reporting Maul as betrayal and kill him? Maybe Vader never finds out and we don’t see him again?
