I started Wasteland 3 with my wife. We really love Solasta and were looking for another tactical rpg. So far we’re enjoying it. The violence and language are a but much at times, but the fact that we have a cat with a cowboy hat on the team makes up for it.
Animal Crossing New Horizons is still going! I got to the ending of the DLC but I simply must make more homes so it goes! I think I’ve unlocked everything from Niko so that’s nice! Still working on removing all these flowers though. I used Resetti and a good luck belongings day and I got rid of a lot of flowers!
The Tainted Grail: Fall of Avalon. Game similar to some of the Elder Scrolls games, featuring Arthurian legends. Quite dark but with some lighter moments sprinkled in. Combat feels pretty nice, smashing everything with my dual shields build.
Redout! Really fun and fast physics based “gravity” racer.
Guild Wars 2. Picked it up again after couple years of break and I can just pick off where I left it. Feels great.
Does anyone have any ideas for games where you can have shorter or longer term “projects”? Like building a character in an ARPG or building a base in a base builder? Or grinding for something specific? I want to have my brain locked in a project for leisure. Sorry if not the right place to ask, thought I’d throw this in here.
warhammer40k Darktide
Final Fantasy XII. I played it at launch and loved it. Spent 120 hours with it and beat every boss except for the one ridiculously hard fight.
Either it or I haven’t aged very well. I’m 60 hours in and have to push myself to play it. I might just move onto something else or beeline the story and stop with the side content and call this one misguided nostalgia.
For some reason, I’m really feeling the urge to get back into Team Fortress 2. It’s been ages since I’ve been active now and it seems a rather poor experience on public matchmaking servers. If anyone knows any good (European) community servers, I’d be grateful for a recommendation 😅
Fable Anniversary
I’m about 10+ hours in now and just finished “The Arena” quest. I’ve only played like 30 minutes of the game before so everything is new to me and I’m really enjoying it. I’m a big fan of Fable II so it’s nice to see everything in its original glory and learn where it all began.
Reverse Collapse: Code Name Bakery
I’m going very slowly with this one as I don’t really have the time to play and when I do, it’s usually at the time when I’m not in a headspace to think as much as this game requires me to. I still enjoy it though!
It’s one of very few titles that can successfully push me towards regular use of items instead of hoarding them “just in case”. This game will not be kind to you if you’ll just try to breeze through blasting without second thought but it will give you the tools to survive if you cooperate. It’s especially important if you’re try to go for all objectives on each stage as these can be a bit tricky at times (nothing too crazy though).
I really like it so far, both in terms of gameplay and story. Can’t wait to see what awaits me later.
The Division 2
I wrote in the past how both Division games are something I tend to come back to semi-regularly. Well, it’s this time of the year again, I guess.
Whenever I want to play something but don’t have the brain power to deal with Reverse Collapse, this is my go-to at the moment. Still plays great and the loop is just as addicting as it’s always been. I honestly didn’t expect to like and stick with these games as long as I have.
The only thing I dislike about TD2 is how manhunts, (side?) story segments about various mooks, can’t be played in their full form. You can only go through a simplified versions of them which cut off some of the presentation and narrative parts. It’s not as bad as vaulting in Destiny but it’s a crappy half-measure to… I don’t really know. I never looked into how the devs explained this decision but it sucks.
Still, outside of this one issue the game is still great and I don’t regret spending my time with it.
Been playing through the adventure mode of MTG Forge
It’s a good time, but I dislike the layout of the world and how quests work. It’d feel so much better if the locations weren’t randomly splodged around the map and instead followed some structure
Similarly, quests are really jank. You’re punished for not taking them, but also punished for abandoning them. Early game they’re either insanely hard or require a huge amount of luck, late game it just feels like a list of random chores
Also it’s annoying to go to a town, rifle through all the shops for a few minutes, before heading on over to the next town. They should cut down the amount of shops per town (right now it’s 10+, each with 6 items to choose from), and just make it a menu to go between them, as the second it takes to load is quite jarring and the travel time when in the town is redundant
But I’m just being picky. Right now it’s a fun game if you’re already into mtg, but with those changes it’d be an amazing game in its own right
