    Well he was in the US unlawfully, which itself makes him a criminal, though not a violent criminal like ICE claimed.

      Unlawful presence is not a crime at all - it’s a civil immigration violation.

      • If someone overstayed a visa (about 40% of undocumented people), they never committed any crime
      • Unlawful presence = civil matter handled in immigration court, not criminal court
      • No criminal penalties, just deportation/removal

      Being in the U.S. without valid legal status is a civil offense. It’s not criminal.

      Are you just ignorant of the law or are you purposefully spreading false information?

        Well I’m not from the US and have zero intention of ever visiting, so the distinction really doesn’t matter to me.
