I don’t understand the concept of ‘shouted at me in Klingon,’ as if there were another way to speak Klingon.

There is also ‘intimidating low growl at me in Klingon’.

Wouldn’t that be more ‘intimidating low growl at me like a Klingon’ in this case?

Now I want to ask Marc Okrand if growling is part of the language.

If “shouted in Klingon” is redundant, then is “said in Klingon” an oxymoron?

When there is only one volume level, I would claim “said” is all that applies.

I watched the German dub of Frieren (I don’t speak German) and Lügner had a pretty sexy voice imo.

No, you tell him “If you were not my father, and the leader of this house I would kill you where you stand!”

…then maybe later you wonder whether any of this stuff comes from old Samurai movies.

Hey, if Star Wars can steal from old Samurai movies, so can Star Trek.

So how would you say that you’re a disappointment to the empire in Klingon?

There was a story of an international couple that didn’t speak eachothers language, but they met at a convention and so they talked klingon to eachother. No idea how reliable the story is, could be pure lies.

This is an urban legend. It sounds nice, but after many years of searching the Klingon speaking community was unable to identify who these people would have been.

I know several international couples that speak Klingon to each other, but they can also all speak English and other common languages.

Learning Klingon requires some ability to understand English, as most of the language information is written in English.

That means “if you endure the discommendation”. Computer based tools don’t do well with Klingon.

Re-route power to the shields, emit a tachyon pulse through the deflector, and post all the nonsense you want. Within reason of course.

~ 1. No bigotry. This is a Star Trek community. Remember that diversity and coexistence are Star Trek values. Any post/comments that are racist, anti-LGBT, or generally “othering” of a group will result in removal/ban.

~ 2. Keep it civil. Disagreements will happen both on lore and preferences. That’s okay! Just don’t let it make you forget that the person you are talking to is also a person.

~ 3. Use spoiler tags. Use spoiler tags in comments, and NSFW checkbox for posts.
This applies to any episodes that have dropped within 3 months prior of your posting. After that it’s free game.

~ 4. Keep it Trek related. This one is kind of a gimme but keep as on topic as possible.

~ 5. Keep posts to a limit. We all love Star Trek stuff but 3-4 posts in an hour is plenty enough.
