On that other place before I left, some guy posted a pic of him and his brand new fiance just to tell the world he proposed to her. I replied with something like “You look like a really great couple, I hope you’re happy together” and the first response was a downvote. Made me laugh.
Was tempted to downvote you but held back.
Wouldn’t hurt my feelings!
People really went after that squid guy who was sharing his health issues. That seemed pretty unnecessary and aggressive towards someone who’s already struggling.
Yeah that was shit. Squid made more than clear he didn’t want armchair diagnoses or input. I’ve had people do the same to me when I post about my colitis. I had someone a month ago tell me that my medical team was wrong to put me on a particular kind of medication, ignoring the fact that it’s these kinds of medications or I go through surgery and have a stoma bag. I’m 27 so understandably my medical team doesn’t want to jump to surgery without exhausting all other alternatives.
That’s one thing I hated so much about reddit. People thinking they know it better even though they don’t know shit. Also some people made fun about him making too many comments for their liking. It’s despicable behaviour from pathetic menchildren.
Any post on lemmy that goes against the Linux/ FoSS hivemind gets down voted instantly, regardless if it is well thought out or not.
Literally asking for downvotes.
By the way, can I have some?
You’re denying the moon landing happened although the moon landing definitely, demonstrably happened. You’re getting downvoted for peddling batshit.
I second this. Definitely offensive.
What was offensive? What did they say?
It’s offensive for having a belief?
Your belief contradicts trivially-observable reality - you’re making falsifiable claims that have, in fact, been proven false, and 10 to 15 seconds of internet searching would suffice for anyone, including you, to see that.
Easy example: the parabolic arc of the dust thrown up by the lander tires would have cost more than every penny the USA had at the time to fake.

If they have been proven false, they have been proven false in a way that is questionable. I maintain this conclusion of mine and don’t know how it’s considered bothersome to simply have it without trying to change or influence anyone even if I’ve shared what I think a few times.
Lots of beliefs are offensive. For example, Sandy Hook deniers.
That’s said to be offensive because it has to do with a tragedy. I would not see what’s “tragic” about whether there was a moon landing or not to consider it offensive.
Your practising of your belief makes the world a worse place, so… yes.
What was their belief? Asking as their comment says it was removed.
A prerequisite of peddling is wishing to influence others.
That isn’t true. Peddling is independent of the peddler’s motivation/intent.
Then what, in your view, separates it from having drawn a different conclusion? Is it peddling batshit if someone thinks Roswell happened, or to think Walt Disney was cryogenically frozen, or to go against the grain in the war going on in the East right now?
🤡 honk
What did the comment say?
How do clowns relate to anything?
The moon landing happened. With technology available at that time, it would not have been possible to fake in that way.
You are getting downvoted because you’re just wrong.
