A SETI observatory on the moon was impossible due to costs. Now, commercial spaceflight is dramatically reducing the cost of bringing a payload to the moon and that is beginning to fuel a renaissance in lunar astronomy.

I feel like Carl Sagan would have gotten very excited about something like this.
