I didn’t, really. Just kind of ended up here and it’s not bad.

Meta (parent company of Facebook, Instagram and Snapchat) is releasing their Twitter alternative this week, Threads.
There’s been some discussion on Lemmy recently about Meta sniffing around forums and the fediverse, so some people have wondered if Meta will get into this space too.

Asklemmy@lemmy.ml•What are some reddit communities you wish to see live and more active on lemmy?
5·2 years agoSame here - I hope more female-oriented communities get going. WitchesVsPatriarchy, TrollXChromosomes, and all the chaos of the Netflix Cinematic Universe reality shows were a blast on Reddit.
I have found !witchymemes@lemmy.world so far!

Asklemmy@lemmy.ml•People around the world, do you drink tap water without boiling?English
2·3 years agoCanadian in a major city - yes, safe to drink right from the tap.
However, many remote communities here do not have access to safe drinking water.
I had actually thought about signing up for the basic plan because it is just me who likes it, but I was put off by the low quality.
Well - I guess now I’ll be officially sticking to Plex.

Chat@beehaw.org•What is something simple that you do to decompress and keep yourself centered?English
4·3 years agoGreat points here. Sometimes I will go for a walk and then wonder, why don’t I feel any better? And it’s likely because that wasn’t what I actually needed.

Technology@beehaw.org•Weekend poll: Do you currently use a third-party Reddit app?English
1·3 years agoI used Apollo for over 5 years. Before that, I had an Android, so I used Baconreader and later Relay. Before THAT, I used Alien Blue.
Ever since the blackout, I have only visited Reddit once. Definitely making Lemmy my primary forum nowadays.

I switched from Android to iPhone mainly for the iMessage capabilities. I didn’t have any other reason at the time, but now I’ve started adding in to the ecosystem (AirPods, and now an iPad). The integration is really nice and smooth. I do like how “user-friendly” it is - while I can use other platforms just fine, iOS is just simple and easy.
