Yeah that looks like it is the way it is. Which, to be clear, does not change my decision to block ads, as that is based in having a pretty basic level of self respect and appreciation for my own time. But it is good to know, so thanks.

I’ve never heard that, would be curious to know. The videos are still marked as watched in my account; that’s as much insight as I have.

How does adblocking affect content creators? Are they paid differently?
Also, I am not going to be forced to watch anything, fuck that. There is literally more youtube video out there than I can possibly watch in a lifetime. I can’t be expected to watch all of it, so I only watch the parts I want. It’s not stealing, YouTube is offering the same media to me, I just don’t particularly like the sponsored portions and ads, the same way I ignore 99% of the other content on the website. It’s a personal preference, not a crime.

As a Guix user, I recommend Ubuntu. If you stick with it, there are specific distros for gaming, but, Ubuntu has such a large user base it makes it very easy to get answers to questions that are specific to your distro. Ubuntu makes it easy to install nvidia and other ‘3rd party drivers’, it’ll just work. I do recommend installing software in the terminal, the Ubuntu app store I feel has some rough edges.

Yeah. Sorry I didn’t see this.

The official, maintained syncthing app is available on Android through the Termux ‘pkg’ manager.

You’ll have to brew your own run conditions I think. For me, it’s not a big deal, just a bunch of documents and pictures and not much gets added every day. But termux does have access to network state, and I’m pretty sure syncthing accepts stop and continue execution signals, so a shell script shouldn’t be too difficult. Another possible option is to use termux:tasker.

I said this in another thread, but apparently it’s not widely known: syncthing works fine on termux, there is no need to install any third party code. You do need to run termux-setup-storage to get access to the shared storage that other apps can access, and I found it worth it to set up the termux:boot app to run syncthing on phone boot. This way only uses the official syncthing repo.
This is an AI slop repo. Somebody is paying money to anthropic to harass volunteer open source developers. Pretty gross honestly, let’s keep our outrage aimed at microslop and co, and the legislators behind them.
