I threw something once and it bounced off a sofa (which was my target to avoid damage) and it hit someone I cared about–that was the last time I used throwing as my outlet for frustration. Now I just sigh loudly, take a deep breath, and try the counting thing others have said. Good luck and if you feel stuck, it’s ok to talk to a professional. It’s better than hurting someone or yourself.

Refactoring, without test coverage, in a nutshell.
Definitely adding this one to the dev guidelines on unit and integration tests. 👍🏼

Technology@beehaw.org•Does anyone use Shortcuts on your Apple device? If so, what are you using?
1·3 years agoYes, on iPhone only, though. I like that you can schedule them to run at certain times which is super helpful with home automation. As a former jailbreaker, I used to miss Activator but Shortcuts does everything I need.
A few good ones:
- “I’m being pulled over” will start recording video and stream it as well as text contacts your location. The ACLU put this one out in 2020.
- “On my way” will calculate my driving time to home, pad it by a few minutes for stoplights, and text it to my wife.
- I have a HomeKit garage door opener/sensor. I have a shortcut that runs at 9pm and texts me and my wife if any of the doors are still open and displays a prompt to close them.

Technology@beehaw.org•What's everyone's thoughts on split or tented keyboards?
1·3 years agoSame here. People give me a hard time for having a 15 year old Dell-branded Natural Pro keyboard and a stockpile of spares but they seem to last forever and fit me so well, ergonomically.

I put an old iPad in a picture frame case and use it as a HomeKit hub and dakboard screen.
