They will nuke your account after 14-30 days if you don’t comply.

Care to backup your claim? I’m not familiar with that bit.
As far as I’m aware, fedora is a public project and not a org that is “owned” by anyone. You’ve got to do a great bit of mental gymnastics to arrive at your conclusion just to try and make me feel stupid. Why?
Also don’t act like there aren’t serious implications of imposing age checks in supposedly free libre software. Libre software should be a fundamental human right. You can believe in that and also that military interventionism is also bad.
You can conflate my point of view all you want, but let’s dial back the cutesy sarcasm. Thanks.

I’m less twitchy on the AI thing. CEO’s gonna CEO, and I think this whole AI thing is going to quietly die down. It’s just… not as useful as the people pushing it says it is. You can’t just mass-delusion people into thinking something does what it doesn’t do. It writes bad code. It is insecure. It makes people insane. These are facts. The tech is not improving.
Not to mention, I find the Register quite often to be a bit too-cute-by-half in its “reporting”. We’ll see.

endeavorOS is listed among those who have “decided not to age verify” but I will say the author of this page is a certifiable moron so take that with a grain of salt. Of all the distros listed and not implementing age verification, endeavorOS’s seem the least explicit.

Fair point, but I think at this point it’s extremely likely Fedora will comply, and my issue with this is ideological, not practical. I will not use a distribution that complies with this law because I believe it is morally compromised.
reddit mods not beating the allegations anytime soon
thank god, i need a kick in the ass to get off that poisonous slop

Bad bot

I refute that categorization actually, I never implied that it was most, only that some number of people do indeed fall into that category and I’ve seen it with my own eyes to be true.
Mostly my post intended to point out that not all devs give a single solitary fuck about FOSS and I would even go so far as to argue that yes, that probably constitutes a majority. Furthermore this attitude is likely a contributing factor (not the only factor by any means) towards the lack of excitement around switching over to open source version control web platforms.

Nowhere in my comment did I imply what you are saying. Please don’t project your internet grievances onto me. The two are not mutually exclusive and I in no way implied that they were.

A lot of people study CS or programming because they have been told it would make them a lot of money. If you just want to make money and don’t care about anything else you’re always just going to put in the minimum effort required, so I’m not surprised people just can’t be bothered to switch.

Humans: invents groundbreaking technologies to share information and freely associate, breaking down multiple societal barriers and creating genuine goodness in the world
Also humans: immediately make it awful and use it to singularly subjugate nearly every living person on earth
Check out pi pico and hardware/microprocessor programming. I found it easier to wrap my head around certain concepts when I had a practical application for them right in front of me.
