Yeah, the copyright says 2014, but this stinks of 1950s attitudes. “Women, amirite guys?!”
I’m just this crystalline entity, y’know?

Is she implying that they’re looking for other options than what Secret Hideout has to offer?

7·7 days agoWell, true. LDS played it well, though. Seeing how this is the second time that the SNW writers rip off old Joss Whedon episodes from the early aughts, I’m less forgiving.

Make that Alexander/Naomi Wildman/Jack Crusher…

Star Trek Social Club@startrek.website•STLV/Star Trek: Legacy (premise talk)English
1·12 days agoWell, Seven would still be the captain, and it would probably be wise to have the main story not be about her, but how she leads the crew through it. I would even say, an adult Alexander who has lived a life on his own — could be interesting if done right. Which is a big if.
But with the junior LaForge and the secret Picard heir already on the crew… It all starts to reek of those franchises where generation after generation of one or two bloodlines are magically hurtled to power. Not at all what I think of with Star Trek. But I suppose that should be expected from a show called “legacy”.
And I’ve already said my part on Terry Matalas’ ideas for a geopolitical metaphor…

1·13 days agoThe Klingons were always stand-ins for the Russians
In 1967, perhaps. The movie versions sort of took a step back from 1:1 interpretations. If anything, the Romulans are a better simile to the (Cold war/Soviet) Russians from a Western standpoint.
Echoing today, there was an unstable element in the Empire
Really, you look at contemporary Russia, and you think dissidents are the most obvious issue? Not oligarchy, state disinformation and war mongering?
TL;DR — don’t let Matalas anywhere near your favourite franchise.

3·13 days agoYou and me both. I tried to lure my SO into a series rewatch before watching the new season, and she was like, “… but we can skip the lame episodes, right?”
Putting it like that, there really isn’t more than (generously) four watchable episodes per season. The writing on this show is as goofy as Voyager, and as aimless as Enterprise.

3·30 days agoI’m grateful it isn’t going to be legacy characters. There has been a certain fetish for recasting the TOS crew as nauseam, and I’m optimistic that it won’t be more of that.
Still, after the Section 31
showTV movie, I’m not too confident that it isn’t going to be about a bunch of “lovable” space pirates doing un-Starfleet-like things because that seemed to work for Star Wars and the DCEU…

5·1 month agoHe’s probably manifesting Picard through his own and Sarek’s shared Katra. Like a Katra ghost… Because that’s the sort of dumb shit the SNW writers will make up on the spot for no good reason.

The titles are presented on a series of retro-styled trading cards, an homage to Star Trek’s colorful 1960s-era merchandise, with a portrait of one of the show’s stars on each card.

Sorry Collider, these reference a set of 1976 sticker cards (with the colour scheme keyed up for 2026). You were off by a decade 🙂

4·2 months agoIt certainly lowered my enthusiasm for SFA s2, knowing they went hard with a cliffhanger finale… That show had a lot of spirit and promise, I wanted to follow those kids through the academy.
SNW — I know I’m in the minority here, but I couldn’t get into the show’s tone, and especially the way it’s leading doggedly towards TOS, literally checking boxes for each continuity item. It feels like a dead man walking, and even more so now. This is actually the first time I’ve looked forward to a Trek show ending.

So unreasonable!
Come to think of it, the joke might have worked if it was Kirk (not you) instead of Spock. It would totally track with his personality, and probably also with his and Dr Marcus’ breakup…
