  • It can move the wing, but it droops down & sometimes shakes (I think the bird might be using it too much). I might try yet another kind of bandage and pray that they don’t get their feet caught up in it when I wrap the wing to the body.

Thank you for your kindness. I’m trying to do the right thing, but it’s difficult when I have to do things “legally”.

Obviously it’s an awful idea to let just anyone try to help wild animals, but I have a bit of experience with wildlife care & have an exotic animal of my own that requires special care. I can’t say I’m the best person to do this, but I at least know what to provide & how not to act around a wild animal. Ideally though, yes, they should absolutely go to an experienced rehabber, if one can be found.

  • This might sound weird, but bare with me!

I save funny stuff, goofy things, and positive content in a folder for my son to browse through, which keeps him from looking for content himself in parts of the internet unknown. He loves it, and I had been able to keep the folder updated with a good amount of new images daily, thanks to R×ddit.

However, lately that has changed. Posts deemed as “wholesome” and “made me smile” now increasingly have the edge of a dystopian nightmare (“look at this father reuniting with his son who he thought was dead amidst this war-torn country! Awwww! Wholesome!” and “this teacher was surprised when his students gave him something that his paycheck should have been able to adequately provide but he is not actually paid enough to afford it! Awww! Made me smile!”). I’ll find animals doing something “cute”, only to realize that behavior is caused by bad or abusive care.

Now I struggle to find things that are actually funny or nice without having a sexist edge, a horrifying implication, sexual undertones, or some kind of underlying dark tone.

I am finding less content here, but the content I am coming across seems to be much more genuine! I’ve actually saved quite a bit more things than I’ve seen on R×ddit within the past year.

  • I appreciate your thoughtfulness.

Do note, though, that there are aces who don’t mind sexual discussions or comments. The only connecting factor between the label is that we do not experience sexual attraction, nor do we desire to have sex.

Some aces break it down further into preferences when it comes to sexual discussion: sex-neutral, sex-averse, and sex-repulsed. Sex-positive is there, too, as some aces have no issues discussing it, but that often gives the impression/misinterpretation that there are aces who desire sex, which is obviously an oxymoron.

Lastly, the asexual community is actually very very very small. Like, ridiculously so. The chances of you running across an ace-identifying person is a fraction of a percent, so don’t worry too much about tiptoeing to cater to our subsect (although I very much appreciate the sentiment)!

  • Raised in this kind of environment, I am so happy to see families break away from this kind of generational abuse.

Kids need to be around other people who have different cultures, viewpoints, and experiences in order to become a person with a well-rounded mindset and social skills.

Homeschooling has been a shield for abuse and control for so many years. I believe there are legit reasons for it, but religion uses it it such an awful way.

  • I’m asexual, through & through. It’s understandable that sex / sexual content is inevitable in such a wide open space, but on R×ddit, it’s become absolutely constant and inescapable! To the point where non-sexual things are being sexualized, and it’s just become genuinely unnerving and gross.

I want to stop seeing posts commenting on everyday objects and being like “Damn, I’d fuck that!”, as if anyone truly wanted to know that. Ever. Ick.
