RIP Apollo

So far my favourite is Memmy but I really like Wefwef too

This gets more absurd every new story lol

I’m actually surprised they can’t get more WhatsApp data considering it’s Facebook. I know WhatsApp’s thing is encryption but… It’s Facebook

You can start with smaller pieces of the app! Like one thing you can do is to try learning a bit of Python and play around by making simple requests to a Lemmy API to print off a list of posts from the front page.
For learning I’d recommend checking out Codecademy. I got my start with programming there like 10 years ago and I feel like I owe a lot to the website. They have fully interactive tutorials and give you a great starting point.
Good luck! :)

Do you have programming experience? I can’t tell from your post if you’re looking for API resources or general programming resources. If it’s your first time programming, making an app like that might be a bit of an overwhelming first project unfortunately
I am missing the front page of my time wasting app not being entirely about internet drama (as much as I want to see reddit fail now)
You can’t get drunk off it? You’d have to have a really high alcohol tolerance unless you’re drinking really light beer.
Also, I like the taste of beer and so do most people who drink it, as I’m sure you know. I’m not sure what the point of you asking this is
I love it it because i don’t feel like my comments on posts just get lost in a landslide of other comments. It’s a smaller community but we have access to so much content through the fediverse. It’s perfect
I’m loving this non stop coverage of the blackout. It can’t be a good luck for investors interested in reddit
Other people have already mentioned that the comments are only soft deleted but I’d also like to mention that comments are an inconsequential amount of data so it’s not really worth it. What’d take up the most space would be stuff like link image previews and stuff like that

I can’t wait for the EU to finally just ban the site and app already.
It’s funny that the two biggest sites that the fediverse competes with decided to nuke themselves one after the other.

It’s not exactly the same but my city has “robot pizza machines” that are basically glorified vending machines with pizza that’s cooked daily and reheated on demand. It works really well for the company because they specifically put the machines in neighbourhoods where people go to drink.
I think as far as automated pizza goes, that’s the best way to do it.
Yeah a farewell would be good. In my dream scenario, he would open source it and the community could port it. That might be unlikely though
I’m hoping Christian ports Apollo to Lemmy. I’m not sure what the feasibility of doing so is but I’d actually pay a monthly subscription for the ability to continue using it
He kind of already has implemented something like this. If you ever try and load a mobile reddit thread in your browser, you’re greeted with a download the app-wall like 50% or more of the time.
it’s better in the app
