yes, that’s what’s I’ve been using, and I know I can see posts from all instances if I just browse All instead of Local

what I’m kind of looking for (and wondering) is that a way to… uh, like, check? on another instance, and see what hot posts are trending there just on their front page without getting mixed and competing for places in /All

so for example, I’m here on lemmy.world, and after browsing a while I got curious on what’s trending on sh.itjust.works, so I go to shi.tjust.works and I can see all the currently hot posts only on shit just works without me getting logged out because I have no account on shitjustworks.

in lack of better words, maybe emulating (or simulating?) a ‘centralized’ feel, ya feel me?

nah, I want to see just the communities specifically inside one instance, like just browsing lemmy.ml and see communities (and what’s trending) in lemmy.ml only without leaving lemmy.world.

edit: on that note, it’ll be nice if that communities/all can be filtered

you only need to maintain the community if you make one, similar to a moderator role in reddit (also called mods here though lol), there’s no cost there but you also don’t get paid, just like reddit mods. Only the server admins maintain the server, and if it gets bigger, all the costs are on the admins. That’s why they open donation channels, and you can support them through that.

note : server admins, each server has their own admins. For example, you’re on lemmy.ml, that one has their own admin, but I’m replying from lemmy.world (magic of the fediverse) which has different guy as admin. You can just support the server you’re in.

the downside is that if an admin (or several, maybe some servers are run by a group, I don’t know) can’t no longer support a server, any data including your account in that server is gone. Hopefully a ‘migration’ feature can be implemented in the future.
