Players kept asking what “+damage” actually meant, so I redid the bonus picker in my little 8-bit RPG.
Now each card says it plainly, like “+12% damage (40 → 45 per hit)”. One card gets a ⭐ Recommended tag with a short reason why.
You start with 3 cards. Later it’s 4, and 5 after you prestige. They have rarity too, common up to legendary, and legendary gets a rainbow shimmer because why not.
Another thing a player pointed out: in the pixel font, “2s”, “5s” and “8s” all looked the same. So timers now say “5 sec” in a clearer font. Tiny change, lots of thanks.

Anyone else had a pixel font bite them like that?
It’s a strange choice to have the 2 so similar to the 8, but to give lots of upper space to the 5. The other way round seems like the obvious choice. I want to see the font designer’s handwriting!
This brought back a wave of vague angry memories about games with vague information. Stuff like “chance to deflect attacks” and it’s like, “what chance? 2%? 20%? Does deflect set damage to 0? TELL ME”
Interesting game. Took me a long time to see where my own hp was. Sometimes I don’t think holding attack registered. Not sure if I need to?
There’s items??
