Please… Lets just have some new characters and new ideas. The problem is the people making Star Trek for the last 30 years have no fucking clue what makes Star Trek good.
Bringing back a beloved character is not going to fix the fundamental problem with modern Star Trek.
I don’t think I can agree with that - plenty of Lower Decks episodes seemed reverse-engineered around whatever legacy actors they were able to book, and other legacy actors were just sort of…stuffed in there.
I would agree that they always crafted meaningful stories around that stuff, but that stuff is still pretty foundational - moreso than perhaps any show besides the third season of Picard, which I would enthusiastically hold up as an example of “fan service” (I don’t love the term, but whatever, it fits) done very poorly.
You seem to be taking the fact that they rejected a pitch for a show that you think is a bad idea as evidence that they don’t know what they’re doing, which is…truly dizzying.
I was applying my opinion to the proposed idea and comparing it to other recent attempts. I am not sure what else you expect from comments on this article.
I compared the idea to other recent attempts in a negative light… come on… Is it really so important to you that everyone likes this idea just because you do? You can like it and I cannot. It’s fine. Everything is fine.

Bro what? it’s not a real show relax
That’s an awfully strong reaction to a rejected pitch…
But it’s true. Fan service can bring you only so far. Lower Decks has tons of fan service but it’s almost never the main purpose of the story.

Was it? Why?

Edit: Holy autocorrect.

Where’s the comparison?

I don’t recall saying I liked the idea. That has no bearing on my interest in discerning what the hell you were talking about.
That interest has reached its limit, though.
Okay. Sorry for being so terribly cryptic.
