Found a lot of interesting softwares in there, I might make a list of interesting and potentially useful softwares I discovered
You doomscroll because you’re bored and have nothing to do.
I doomscroll because I can’t find what I’m looking for.
We are not the same.
The only justifications for using flatpak are having a musl system or if the software has way too many dependencies. Use your package manager when possible, otherwise use an appimage, or find a way to get the .deb or .rpm working on your distro.
Another benefit you miss is isolation
if doomscrolling through Flathub is somehow distracting or occupying your attention too much, you can extend your

Nah I can manage my addiction
That’s exactly what an addicted person would say. :D
I’m not addicted, I’m doing that for 20 years and I can quit whenever I want.
I quit it 17 times already!
… just this week, and it’s only monday!
inb4 the machine stops updating and op gets a big virus
I think that’s just regular scrolling.
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Doomscrolling (emphasis mine):
Doomscrolling is the act of spending an excessive amount of time on digital content (e.g. short-form content, user-generated content, AI-generated content, and news) that elicit negative emotions. The concept was coined around 2018, and became more widespread in the context of the COVID-19 pandemic. The World Health Organization (WHO) observed that the pandemic was accompanied by widespread misleading information, conspiracy theories, and false reports, which it referred to as an “infodemic”.
Maybe but I did scroll and install/testing softwares for 3 hours, I also learn how to compile simpler software from sources that don’t have any build instruction because some of the stuff I found only available on flathub. There’s a few vibe coded softwares too despite Flathub banning ai generated code
So Lemmy?
I think the meaning has shifted a bit (at least from my experience) to basically mean “spending an excessive amount of time on some digital content (usually rapidly switching from one piece to another)”.
Of course this depends on the person I’m talking with but it seems to me that a lot of people are using it as I described above.
It’s doomscrolling if you’re a fan of appimages and static binaries like myself
Based
The truth fan of flat hub
Yeah I also lose some minutes scrolling everytime I go to Flathub.
AppImageHub isn’t that nice, I dunno why.
Good to know I’m not the only person who does this
What is the most interesting thing you have found?
- toolBLEx cool Bluetooth analyzer
- Vermouth games launcher made for KDE/Qt
- Fog Panther an Affinity/Photoshop clone made only available for Linux (paid proprietary)
- Deja Dup files backup to local or cloud storage
- No More Background an adb GUI tool to disable app on Android from running in the background
- Edit: There’s a lot of cool indie games on flathub
What indie games would you recommend?
Nice thanks
Can Vermouth run native games installed from package manager or through Flatpak? I am looking for a good application that can do that.
