Grindr won’t allow users to add “no Zionists” to their profiles, but allows any number of other phrases that state political, religious, and ethnic preferences, according to 404 Media’s tests of the platform and user reports.

Several users received an error message that says “The following are not allowed: no zionist, no zionists,” when they tried to add the phrases to their bios on Thursday. I tested this myself on a new Grindr account, and received the same error message. I was able to add “Zionist” to my profile (without “no”), however, and could also add any phrase I could think of: “no Arabs,” “no Blacks,” “no Palestinians,” “no Muslims,” “no Christians,” “no Jews,” “no trans,” “no Republicans,” “no Democrats,” and so on. “No Zionist[s]” was the only phrase that was blocked in my testing.

The only guys still using this legacy app are the baby gays, the clueless, and the ultra photogenic.

There are so many better ones out there and they’re not filled with closet cases and gay republicans; use them instead.

It’s called a gay bar. You go, you chat with people. You walk away with a fun evening or maybe a new sibling.

Nice try FBI agent! You’ve already enshitified all the legacy apps like Grindr and shut down rentboy et al (but left their straight counterparts alone). We’ve gone peer to peer to evade you and I’m not going to help you capture them; you’re just going to have to talk to those icky gays yourself. Lol

hexbear looks down on them; you’ll find your answer there.

the other’s lack of awareness of this VERY OPEN secret gives me pause to share it here, where it’s clear entire communities and instances are aware of them; authorities like the fbi, cia, mossad treat them like goldmines and they also exist because a huge majority don’t actively participate like they don’t on apps like grindr.

You’re not protecting anyone from mossad by being evasive and riddlesome about what dating apps you use

I had a colleague who said, he do only use it to find people to have one-night-stands with. He does not care about their political opinions as long as they can “fuck just right”.

        Your colleague is a Republican.

        Either that or a libertarian.

        Either way, they vote Republican.

We are not Americans but honestly, I don’t think he do vote right-wing. He’s very much ‘‘let everyone live the way they want’’. Curious though what makes you think he’d vote right?

within the united states: it’s akin to self-awareness-lacking statements that make their prejudices clear, like: “i don’t have a problem with gay people, just don’t do it in front of my face” or “i can’t be racist because i have black friends”

Probably to do with the bipartisan laws against criticism of Israel. Probably not the best hill for Grindr to die on so I think they made the right choice here.

I genuinely don’t understand the backlash to what I said but people clearly didnt like it.

I’m well aware not all Jews are Zionists. But I’m not surprised that the owner of grinder appears to be a Zionist because they are Jewish. I would be surprised if they were Muslim or Christian or something.

i bet it’s the combination of an implied conflation of a jewish owner and zionism and the fact that that it hasn’t been owned by a jewish person in quite some time.

it changed hands years ago to chinese ownership until the american gov’t forced the sale to blackrock/vanguard to protect the closeted republicans and cia/mossad interests.
