Nobody should be blaming the cast. This wasn’t a situation where bad performances failed to connect the viewer with an otherwise excellent film. Madame Web was quite possibly the worst tentpole film by a major studio ever. It was definitely the worst comic book movie ever made, and that’s a competitive field.

That is a pretty blunt statement for a Hollywood actress/actor. Calling executives that could land her on some blacklist.

Which is likely true…

A multi billion dollar corporation doesn’t have people running large divisions who cares about the division, they’re all “executives” who don’t know about any part of a business besides profits must always go up.

But unless you’re part of a mega Corp, you’ll get pushed out or bought out by one of the mega corps eventually.

We’re speed running cyberpunk, people have been warning us how capitalism ends for well over 50 years by now.

Sure, she’s probably not the reason the film is bad.

That being said, I have never once seen her in anything and not thought “god, couldn’t they have cast anyone else?” So like, she sure as hell didn’t help this film, or any other she’s been in.

And on top of being a bad actress and a fairly unlikeable person in appearances, she’s an enormous nepo-baby.

So somehow she managed to be no wrong here, but also entirely wrong here.
