  • I always felt American car companies were a really good example of that back in the 60s-70s when enormously long vehicles with giant engines were the order of the day. Why not bigger? Why not stronger? It also acted as a symbol of American strength, which was being measured by raw power just like today lol.

This also reminds me of the way video game programmers in the late 70s/early 80s had such tight limitations to work within that you had to get creative if you wanted to make something stand out. Some very interesting stories from that era.

I also love to think about the tricks the programmer of Prince of Persia had employed to get the “shadow prince” to work…

  • Marimar Martinez was shot multiple times by federal immigration agents during an October clash in Brighton Park, where residents were protesting the federal officers’ presence. Agents alleged Martinez chased them and rammed her car into an agent’s car, claims Martinez and her attorney disputed. The case later collapsed and all charges were dropped by the U.S. Attorney’s Office.

So that’s it? “Oops, we were demonstrably wrong about these allegations but whatever we’ll keep calling her a domestic terrorist and make vague excuses why she can’t be given access to any information surrounding our failed attempt to kill her”

  • I saw that too!! I was googling about it for a while this morning, fascinating stuff! I enjoy the ways that they recommend introducing the character and house into a campaign etc in the Book of Artifacts, too. I think it’s cool they use real folklore to give the game flavor and interest.

  • Corners were cut and mistakes were made.

This is my assumption about nearly all modern tech. We’ve reached the point where it’s practically standard practice to release unfinished products and/or software. In many cases, it ends up being a particular person or small group of enthusiasts that end up finishing and polishing the product.

Not only that, but support for many tech products is shorter-term than ever. I was talking to a mechanic recently who was surprised to be informed by Alfa Romeo’s parts department, that they did not offer replacements for a particular part for the brake lines on a car that was less than 10 years old…and referred the mechanic to find a seller on eBay who makes them. There was indeed one company making the part and selling them on eBay. That was the aftermarket support, lol!
