No, thus is totally fair. If i can try to reflect what I just heard:
“Collaboration is easy due to persistent identity and an implied/portable workflow”.
I think this is especially valuable in FOSS. I’ve experienced it.

As someone who has never really used github (I have for a few minor FOSS contributions… very short touchpoints) but use self hosted git…
… what is github even fucking offering???
From my naive perspective it’s a light touch web ui on git?
I don’t understand what gravity well it provides… what escape velocity is required to bail on it.
From my naive perspective, I’d have as much allegiance to ot as I would be to an ftp server. Not happy? NP, I’ll take 17 minutes to move to 1 of 9999999 other equivalent services, or take 95 minutes to self host a functional equivalent.
I viscerally recall, and don’t think kids now will ever fully comprehend the one week where all 4 wheels fell off the meme bus and this was what people were literally posting. I’m legitimately triggered.
I hate the generalized concept of “AI”, but I love the concept of “Machine Learning”
If you think LLMs are good at anything, I am almost 100% certain to disagree with you about pretty much everything, to help you understand this distinction.
Anyhow, some computer scientists found that a machine learning algorithm could predict beyond a null hypothesis that A fingerprint belonged to a person given a different fingerprint (different finger but still same person)
“Criminology” expers were just like “no, it’s settled science”
This is the state of discourse.
why do I even feel the compulsion to preface by saying my bit about ai and llms?
how tf is “settled science” even a concept in a science

Usually they’ll give romulans or cardassians the benefit of the doubt.
Ferengi? No fucking way those space jews are up to something.
I’m baffled at how the author just glosses over how the emoji for 5 doesn’t work “because functions can’t start with a number”.
This seems to imply there is some kind of textual substitution going on, which further implies I could call an emoji named function by some other plaintext name.

I got a LITTLE bit further than you.
Boils down to “make the ‘close enough’ number have some real meaning in your domain instead of just picking an arbitrarily small one”
… at least to my read. Again, like you, didn’t finish.
I suspect that atmosphere composition makes different options more or less viable.
The difficulty/cost getting to orbit probably also would influence where a space elevator lands in terms of developmental priority.

Really wish there was the complete data set rather than just looking at the immediate run up to the dot Com burst, and then from that peak to the trough of the aftermath of the 08 crash.

I think you can use home kit ones locally… which really broadens your options

Considering how trivial it is to build, and the plethora of working examples on github, I expect anyone is one chatgpt prompt away from running afoul of this.

I understand the mechanism, and why it is important.
I don’t understand why the error message from the store was nothing more than an error code, and why the MSKB for that code had absolutely no mention of a failed ssl negotiation as a possible cause.

Couldn’t install iTunes because my clock was wrong. That certainly wasn’t the ERROR I was presented with, but was ultimately the root cause.
That, coincidentally, was the very same evening that I decided to and did uninstall windows on that machine.
You probably didn’t expect that comment to make me feel so old.

Only a Varool would use such language in public

I’m my professional experience working with both, Java shops don’t blindly enforce this, but c# shops tend to.
Striving for loosely coupled classes is objectively a good thing. Using dogmatic enforcement of interfaces even for single implementors is a sledgehammer to pound a finishing nail.

Whoever is demanding every class be an implementation of an interface started thier career in C#, guaranteed.

Considering starships exist in the vacuum of space, I expect the hull should be able to handle at least 1atm pressure differential!
Are you threatening me?
