  • History has shown that nothing less is going to stop them from dumping waste in our water supplies.

Lol, when in history have capitalists ever been held accountable? Mild slaps on the wrist (including supposed jail time, which is neve gong to come to be, and if it is, it’ll be of a sacrificial manager, not the owners) aren’t going to change shit as long as the system that enables them exists.

Would it be nice to see those in charge get locked up? Sure! But it’s never going to happen, and without other systemic change, even if it did (but it won’t), it’s still just applying a band aid to a brain tumour.

  • Right, which leads to their empathy going to the rich, rather than with their own class.

It’s why the whole “temporarily embarrassed millionaire” construct exists in the first place - to manipulate enough of the working class to act against their own interests.

“Jealousy problem or a self-serving attitude” are a result of masses of propaganda and indoctrination (E: and the inequality baked in to the system) designed precisely to that end, not a natural state of being some people just posses.

  • Yup, I actually included a couple of lines about how anyone can become part of at least one marginalised group in the blink of an eye, but it didn’t make the cut.

I also refer to the Just world fallacy often, it has an absolutely massive over presence in our society, in large part due to organised religion (and not just the big 3, either), but it is absolutely fostered by the capitalist state too because it recognises just how powerful a tool it is at keeping people loyal and shifting blame to those oppressed by the system rather than the system itself.

And I also agree with your conclusion, though I think it’s less about general empathy (which can be so easily manipulated, as we can see by the numbers of poor people who empathise with the rich they’ve been convinced they might one day become), and more about building solidarity among working class people in spite of the division being sown by those with all the power, who invest large amounts of it in to preventing us doing exactly that, in fear of the power we hold if we do.

  • I think this is an important point to consider, but the emphasis is being shifted when it really shouldn’t - yes, pain is hell, and it makes life hard, even unbearable, but you know what radicalises pain patients? The brick walls we hit and slaps in the face we get at every turn when desperately seeking help and support from a system and institutions based on so many levels of bias and discrimination and exclusion (capitalism, ableism, sexism, racism, classism, queerphobia, fatphobia and on and on), designed to keep us out of sight and out of mind. Being dismissed as “hysterical”, a liar, a drug seeker, a lazy burden, a scrounger, fat, “uncooperative” (like when autistic people struggle to make eye contact, or in too much pain and trauma to communicate calmly). Being locked up, institutionalised, or just completely ignored. Being told it’s “too expensive” to provide us with quality of life, but rather encouraged to be “assisted” in disposing of ourselves instead, or doing it for us with lack of funding and support.

Yeah, being marginalised radicalises you, but not because of who you are, but because of the systems of oppression designed to marginalise you, which others simply have the privilege of not being directly impacted by (which in far too many cases results in not even believing they exist, which of course serves to maintain them).

  • If I made a product that sells a lot, be in high demand, and had a fanatic following, I would be rich as well.

Lmmfao, ok, temporarily embarrassed millionaire, you keep telling yourself that…

What is less funny is that you think the people who are manipulated by a trillion dollar industry re to blame, and not those running and profiting from said industry.

You are definitely a bigger part of the problem in shifting the blame the way you are, than any one of her fans buying a ticket or an album trying to enjoy their wage slave life for an hour or two.

  • Yeah, it can be hard because everyone has shit going on, it’s why having someone in your life whose specific job is to help you with stuff like this is so helpful, because it feels less like pilling on to someone else. You can of course hire a PA, but that becomes expensive, but it’s definitely worth looking around, try ADHD/neurodiversity specific charities or organisations, but depending on your circumstances you might qualify for other types of places too.

Also, don’t be embarrassed, I’ve taken years to sort shit out, life is already so overwhelming, having additional barriers to deal with these aspects of life can make it almost impossible at times. You’re doing your best.

  • it’s a little easier said than done.… it’s weirdly difficult to get help and executive dysfunction can be a real bitch.

Oh 100%, executive dysfunction really is an absolute bitch, and getting through that wall can be the hardest fucking part!

Not to mention just how hard it can be to find medical staff that isn’t burnt out to the point of not giving a crap… :/

I know it seems like just adding an extra step, but have you considered checking if there are any (volunteer) patient advocacy services available near you? I have some other difficulties too, so more help might be available to me, and also I don’t know where you are, in US it might be too big an ask, but having an advocate has been a game changer for me - they help make calls for you to arrange appointments and follow ups and stuff, help liaise with staff if you need them to, basically they jump a lot of the hurdles for you to help you get to where you need to be.

If something like that isn’t available, is there anyone in your life that you’d trust to advocate for you? In any case, you’d need to give permission to your provider to speak to them on your behalf, which again seems like just an extra step, but I really think that sharing some of the burden of acting with someone else can be a great help (though it might not work for you, and that’s ok too).

That’s outrageous, you shouldn’t have to deal with this bullshit.

I agree with the other reply - report them and find a new GP, I know that’s a massive pain and hassle, but it’s so important to have a medical team that is there to help you make your life better, not judge and police you according to their own questionable morals.

  • It is just so frustrating that people have been warning about exactly what is happening (not just with the DWP, mind), yet the general public just don’t want to hear it, the illusion of choice being so narrow makes life easy - you’re either team red or team blue (or maybe yellow or green if you’re feeling “rebellious”), and that’s all you need to know about the world (the result of being over worked, under paid, and propagandised since birth in to whatever benefits capitalism most, of course).

Step outside that box, and they become so overwhelmed by (or completely shut down to) the endless possibilities, they just don’t know how to deal with it. It’s so fucked up how well the system works at preserving itself.
