Ask Electronics@discuss.tchncs.de•Battery charge in parallel discharge in seriesEnglish
1·7 months agoThe idea of the battery pack is to provide energy for a household. The reason I’m considering such a large amount in series is that it would make an inverter much more efficient and easy to make. An EGS002 based circuit for example relies on a 400V DC, which I find very difficult to make out of lower voltages. Especially when high wattages are involved. There are no DC-DC converters commercially available with around 55V input (16s li-ion) and 400V output at 4KW. There are however commercial inverters available such as the Victron Multiplus II 48V that can deliver about 4000W of AC. This would suit my needs however I want to DIY as much as possible. I also have plans for a self made solar charge controller and possibly even a wind controller as extra modules next to the battery charging circuit and inverter.
Solving the issue of converting high power 55V to 400V DC would remove the need for a high-series battery pack as well.
Indeed blindly dumping the charge into a battery is not the intention. There will be additional circuitry to prevent cells from overheating and to limit the inrush current that they receive but the general idea is a capacitor that floats between 4.2V and Vcell.

Yeah. True. I’m a programmer of those things and I make an effort to be as efficient as possible with tips, ie mixing with the same tip and compensating accuracy for it. It’s more difficult but worth the effort imo.
Also reuse for things like reagents makes a big difference.
I know. They’re definitely not environment friendly. Still much better than manual pipetting.
That’s why you use pipetting robots. Just sit back and watch the show.

I’m in my late 30s and feel that way about the schools I went to. I studied chemistry and while some of the material was good most of my grades were about teacher pleasing and completing arbitrary assignments.
They cared more about layout and formatting than about actual content in project reports.
Edit: I think the main purpose of higher schools is not to learn but to prepare you for corporate life. Accept whatever task is given no matter how stupid or wasteful it is. Also don’t challenge authority because your grades will suffer and if you do it too much you’ll fail.
Oh yeah? Today there are more people dying from dihydrogen monoxide than in the past.
Honestly I think schools these days are a test of patience and a test of playing social games. Not intelligence.
Statement: This is a good meme.
