I like cooking so maybe not the best advice. But for me I like cool gadgets and being frugal. Recently, I just cooked some lentils in my instapot. It took 10 minutes to prep, $5 to make, 15 minutes to cook, 15 to depressurize and bam! Delicious food that made 4-5 meals.

What makes it for me is; it was cheap, pretty quick to make, and cleanup was fast too. This was all because I have a pressure cooker (gadget) to speed up the process. It makes me feel like I’m winning.

Like everyone else said, didn’t fix it, if not broken. Admins like distros like Debian and Arch(sorry) because you have more initial control of what’s on them. Why have a GUI, if you didn’t need it? Mix that with a little OCD and next thing you’re doing is recompiling the kernel. Fun stuff 😀

Yeah try opening with Linux live image. Linux mint or Ubuntu should work. Also sounds crazy but rotate the drive around slowly in your hand while it’s plugged in and you’re browsing. If the files show up, stop rotating it and quickly copy you files to a safe place.

Another vote for Syncthing. Might be a little too complicated for some though

Forget the tapes. This is hard to say but just pay for online storage. It’s $9.99 a month for 2TB from Google and Apple. Your data will be safe and accessable by family if something happens to you. You could also get a cheap NAS like device like this https://a.co/d/dgsnQbr and maybe every couple of months you create a offline backup onto another device.

Thought Mac store was required. Guess not.

Microsoft wants all future apps to go through their store. Basically like Apple does in Mac [ appears you can ]. I do believe this is the future for Windows apps. Once that happens, Valve running on Windows will be second fiddle. Valve’s only choice is to migrate to another OS or end up like Mozilla.

Free games are good. Have been using Heroic launcher in Linux. Free or not, I’m still waiting for the time to be right.
