There definitely needs to be a social pressure to drop discord, I propose that there needs to be some level of social stigma around using or liking discord. Like for example if someone says they prefer discord or like its look and features and promote people to verify or even buy Discord Nitro, call them a discord bro or similar negative quip (we can find the names and phrases in due time). If that sounds too harsh consider that if someone said they like to use chatGPT and prefer to use it, a lot of people would call them AI bros for that. It isn’t much different. Social stigma is a powerful motive. Especially for creators and for platforms where PR is of utmost importance.
Like if Discord usage is stigmatized we can go from discord API logins on community sites and projects to them never even acknowledging discord exists. That’s what will drive change, not inconvenience, not privacy violations by discord, or even good intentions on their part. Shame that loses people’s respect for them.

Probably a good call since Bungie clearly plagiarized a lot of the art in this game from artist ANTIREAL.
More info on that: https://www.rockpapershotgun.com/bungie-used-an-artists-work-without-permission-in-marathon
It’s not like this game was going to be remarkable anyway.

Also depends highly on the seed (RNG) not all AI generation tools let you choose that but some do. Different seeds can produce wildly different results on the same model even, AI image gen relies heavily on randomness.

A large majority of Physical games have secretly been made as one-time activation keys, and aren’t really a physical game in any meaningful sense since most of the game isn’t on the disc. Physical games at this point are more of a semantic argument to distract people from the real question, when will online DRM and activation completely take over?

Shameful clickbait article which doesn’t even seem to mention the game that was supposedly shut down. This person should be ashamed for writing this and honestly you should be ashamed for posting it. This is an utterly useless article.

Either way they’re eroding their credibility very very quickly.
Edit: He literally made a comment claiming he’s going to make a game about a porn studio. I don’t think we can say he isn’t a troll at this point.

I think it’s becoming more and more clear that this user is a troll.

Ah yes the prime example of copyright encouraging creators to keep creating new and unique content, totally not just remaking the same thing over and over for profit.

This is exciting news, Okami is one of my favorite games and it would be very nice to see a sequel for it. I hope they keep a similar if not the same artstyle as the original one. Either way though it’ll be really nice to have a sequel since as most people know, original left on a bit of a cliffhanger.

You don’t even need instructions on betting, betting or wagering is something that people can figure out on their own quite easily, the behavior is often demonstrated in real life in other non-gambling scenarios “I bet ya can’t climb that tree”, so if we assume a game about playing cards can be considered gambling, than the assumption that Playing cards themselves would also be considered gambling materials seems plausible, but it is meant to highlight the absurdity of the situation.

Just play it in Wine or Steam Proton as a non-steam game, it’s a PC game after all.

Isn’t that a PC game? I don’t think an Emulator is needed for that, you can run it on Wine, or Steam Proton as a non-steam game.

And yet we have whiny idiots saying copyright encourages artists to create new works. Why the fuck would it when they can just rehash the same shit over and over and over and continue making money on them?
That assumption is based on assuming that profits produce joy and passion in a project. Something which is blatantly false if you look at any of the largest, richest companies in the world.

I suppose playing cards in Europe are considered “gambling materials” under that logic and aren’t allowed to be sold to people under 18? That would be absurd.

Been playing a bit of Minecraft and also a bit of Flock. I recently got a few new games but I haven’t played them as much lately. Been busy.

Maybe they used to be, but they certainly aren’t anymore.

Gamestop isn’t popular…

Nice to see more SteamOS systems, hopefully Valve plays it smart and we don’t lose the benefits of the current Steam Deck by having more systems which are wildly more powerful than it. That way developers still have the Steam Deck as a stable target spec wise.
I think this definitely seems interesting. I’d love to give it a try if you’re still working on it.
